Ocean Currents

Warm Up - When you see waves off heat rising off the ground during a dry summer, what form of heat transfer are you witnessing?
Answer: The waves of heat rising off the ground during the summer is caused by radiation, heat that travels in waves. The specific radiation you are witnessing is Infrared radiation, a form of electromagnetic wave sent out by anything that produces heat (including people!).
