Agenda 3.2.09

The Orphan of Ellis Island

Students read chapter 10-11 and watch short video clips on the reality of time travel:
Assignment is as follows (started today to finish tomorrow)
Homework: Think of ideas for your story (details below) to bring into class tomorrow so you can get started on your writing.

The Task: Write a short story where you are a time traveler. You have invented a machine using Einstein’s and Hawking’s theories. When writing your story think about the following questions:

Where would you go?

Does your machine travel only through time or through space as well?

What problems might you encounter when traveling?

Who would you talk to?

What would happen if you changed the past in some way (assuming that you went into the past)

What adventures might you encounter?

What might you notice about the new time that would be different than our time?

Be creative, and pick a place and time that interests you – past or future!

Your story should include –

A description of way you managed time travel

What it felt like to be traveling through time

Your adventure once you got there – at least one new character.

Remember – don’t tell – SHOW! Experience the new time period through your character’s senses – their observations.
