Agenda 11.7.07

SCIENCE FAIR PRESENTATIONS - DAY 2
  • Warm up #4: What does the presence of a cleavage plane in a mineral tell you about the chemical bonds the mineral has?
  • Science fair presentations
  • Homework: Study for Quiz (Fri), Prepare for presentations

Important: The quiz on Friday (11/9/07) will not only be vocabulary (study flashcards), but application of the words. For example: A question might read, "Why are all minerals crystals? " Students will have to understand both definitions, and write a coherent sentence that explains the answer. A sample answer would be, "All minerals are crystals because crystals are simply solids with an orderly arrangement of atoms. One of the criteria for a substance to be classified as a mineral is to have an orderly arrangement of atoms. By definition, all minerals must be crystals."
